Founded in 2009, the Allen Arts Festival has become a highly-anticipated Mother’s Day weekend (2nd weekend of May) tradition in Collin County and the north Texas region.  This family-friendly event features a wide variety of free events including; interactive art experiences, music, dance and entertainment.  The juried art festival attracts a diverse group of fine art exhibitors from all over the country. The festival also showcases a wide variety of artistic performances, interactive children’s art related activities and delicious food and drink options available through the wide variety of restaurants at Watters Creek, as well as food trucks at the festival this year. The festival is held in Watters Creek at Montgomery Farms, a unique, mixed-use, lifestyle center incorporating public art, green spaces, upscale living, shopping and office space as well as unique dining and entertainment experiences.

In 2016 the festival featured almost 100 visual artists from all over the country, showcasing work in diverse categories ranging from watercolor to photography and sculpture. And, with over 10,000 visitors and buyers of fine art, the festival has become a can’t miss event for art lovers, art collectors and locals who love this annual celebration of the arts and culture in our community.

Allen Arts Festival admission, activities and parking are free to the public. Food and drink are available for purchase from on-site food trucks as well as the wide variety of restaurants in Watters Creek Center.

Proceeds from the festival are distributed back to the community by the Allen Arts Alliance through grants to  non-profit art and culture organizations,  scholarships to Allen ISD students pursuing art and creative studies, Arts Alliance programming in the Blue House Too Gallery and Creative Space. Art Education in the schools and community includes; ArtSparks which brings art literacy programs to preschool, special education and  elementary school students, and ArtReach which provides opportunities to underserved community members including enrichment programs; such as museum and theater field trips for Title 1 elementary schools in Allen, monthly children’s art activities at a homeless shelter, a community arts pantry and  a variety of other free art classes and activities offered in the community.
